Shinee 샤이니



Shinee (shine-ee; 샤이니; Thai: ชายนี่; Japanese: シャイニー; stylized as SHINee) is a contemporary R&B South Korean boy band. Formed by SM Entertainment in 2008, they made their debut on May 25, 2008 on SBS's Inkigayo with their promotional single, "Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)" ("누나 너무 예뻐 (Replay)", lit. "Noona, You're So Pretty (Replay)"). The group consists of Onew, Jonghyun, Key, Minho and Taemin.
Since their debut, Shinee has released two full-length albums, three mini-albums, and various singles. They have also won many awards, held a concert tour and starred in their own reality shows. Shinee is considered to be a fashion icon having started the "SHINee Trend". They made their Japanesedebut on June 22, 2011 by releasing a Japanese version of their single, "Replay" and released their first Japanese studio album, "The First" on December 7, 2011.

History





2008: Debut and The Shinee World
On May 25, 2008, the group's first mini-album, Replay was released from Label company, SM Entertainment. The mini-album debuted at #10 on the Korean music charts and peaked at #8, selling 17,957 copies in the first half of 2008.
On June 7, 2008, Shinee participated in the Dream Concert in the Seoul Olympic Stadium along with other South Korean singers and groups. The group won their first award, "Rookie of the Month", at the Cyworld Digital Music Awards on June 22, 2008. Shinee took part in SMTown Live '08, which was held on August 18, 2008 at Seoul Olympic Stadium. On August 23, 2008, they attended MNet's 20's Choice Awards 2008, where they won the "Hot New Star" award.
Shinee released their first full-length album, The Shinee World, on August 28, 2008. The album debuted on the charts at #3, selling 30,000 copies. The first single released from the album was "Sanso Gateun Neo (Love Like Oxygen)", a cover of "Show the World" by Martin Hoberg Hedegaard, originally written by the Danish songwriting and production team of Thomas Troelsen, Remeeand Lucas Secon. On September 18, 2008, Shinee's "Sanso Gateun Neo (Love Like Oxygen)" was the No. 1 song on M! Countdown. A few days later, Shinee received the "Mutizen" award for the same single on SBS's Popular Songs.
Shinee participated in the 5th Asia Song Festival, where they received the "Best New Artist" award with Japanese girl group, Berryz Kobo. The group attended the 2008 Style Icon Awards on October 30, 2008, where they won the "Best Style Icon Award". On the same day, a repackage album of The Shinee World titled Amigo was released. The re-packaged album contained three new songs: "Forever or Never", a remix of "Sa. Gye. Han (Love Should Go On)" (..) and the promotional single "Amigo" (..). "Amigo" is a shortened version of the Korean phrase "Areumdaun Minyeorueljoahamyeon Gosaenghanda" (아름다운 미녀를 좋아하면 고생한다 lit. Heart Aches When You Fall In Love With a Beauty).
On November 15, 2008, Shinee won the "Best Male Rookie" award at the 10th annual MNet's KM Music Festival, beating fellow newcomers U-KISS, 2PM,2AM and Mighty Mouth. At the 23rd Annual Golden Disk Awards, they performed a medley of their songs and won the award for "YEPP Newcomer Album".

2009: Romeo and 2009, Year of Us
In early February, 2009, Shinee won "Best Newcomer" award along with Davichi and Mighty Mouth at the 18th Seoul Music Awards. Later, SM Entertainment announced that Shinee would make their comeback with their second mini album Romeo on May 21, 2009. On May 18, "Juliette", the first single was released, an instrumental remake of Corbin Bleu's "Deal with It". It was later announced that their comeback was going to be delayed due to Onew damaging his teeth and the release of the mini-album was pushed back to May 25, 2009. Shinee eventually had their return performance on June 5, 2009, on KBS's Music Bank, where they received the award for first place.
The group released their third mini-album, 2009, Year Of Us, on October 19, 2009, five months after the release of Romeo. SM Entertainment stated that this EP would showcase the group's vocals and demonstrate their unique qualities. The lead single, "Ring Ding Dong", was released digitally on October 14; the group had their comeback stage on October 16, on KBS's Music Bank. In early December, 2009, Shinee won the "Popularity" award along with fellow labelmate group, Super Junior, at the 24th Golden Disk Awards. In February, 2010, the group won the main "BonSang" award at the 19th Seoul Music Awards. In December, Shinee also started promoting their song "Jo Jo" with live performances on local music programs.


2010: Lucifer and first concert
SM Entertainment revealed individual photo teasers of each member for the new album starting with Minho on July 8, 2010 and ending with Key on July 12, 2010. The teaser for the music video of lead single was released on July 14, 2010 at the official channel of SM Entertainment on YouTube. The group was originally set to have their comeback stage on KBS Music Bank, July 16, to begin their promotions for the new album, however, due to Minho injuring his ankle during a Dream Team 2 filming on July 8, the comeback was postponed to July 23, 2010.
The second full length studio album, entitled Lucifer, was released on July 19, 2010 in South Korea. The music video promoting the lead single, also named "Lucifer", was released on the same day. Within hours of the release, the album topped various physical and digital sales charts in South Korea. The songs on the album "were more carefully selected than ever", and the album is said to "[give] listeners a great chance to experience the diverse musical characters and more mature vocal skills of the members." The group made their comeback on July 23, 2010 at KBS Music Bank. Choreography of the Lucifer was released on the same YouTube channel on August 3, 2010. The studio album was re-released a repackaged version, entitled Hello, on October 1, 2010. The music video of the promotional single, also named "Hello", was released on October 4, 2010. The re-released version included three new tracks.
Amidst their promotional activities for the second studio album, the group also participated in the SMTown Live '10 World Tour alongside their label-mates. On August 21, 2010, they performed in a concert at Seoul Olympic Stadium in Seoul. On September 4, 2010, they also performed at a concert at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Later, on September 11, 2010, Shinee also participated in a concert at Hongkou Stadium in Shanghai.
On December 26, 2010, Shinee started their Shinee World tour, by holding their first concert at Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo. The event was attended by a total audience of approximately 24,000 attendees. The group also announced that they will be releasing their first Japanese language studio release in 2011 under EMI Music Japan, record label known for the famous million-selling Japanese-American singer-songwriter Hikaru Utada.


2011-present: Japanese debut and The First
On January 1, 2011, Shinee performed in a concert at Olympic Park Stadium in Seoul as a part of their tour, Shinee World. On January 2, 2011, before the second running of the concert in Seoul, Shinee held a press conference. The group answered many questions related to their future plans, announcing that in March 2011 they will be debuting in Japan, and the members also reflected on their success in 2010. On January 25 and 26, 2011, the group once again participated in the Japan leg of SMTown Live '10 World Tour alongside their fellow labelmates and participated in two concerts atYoyogi National Gymnasium in Tokyo.
On May 16, 2011, EMI Music Japan revealed a teaser for the Japanese version of "Replay" through their official YouTube channel. The music video was released through the same channel on May 27, 2011. The single was released in Japan on June 22, 2011 and sold more than 91,000 copies in the first week. It was certified 'Gold' by RIAJ for selling over 100,000 copies in June 2011.
On June 10 and 11, 2011, Shinee once again participated in the France leg of SMTown Live '10 World Tour alongside their fellow labelmates and performed at two concerts in Paris at Zenith de Paris. On June 19, 2011, Shinee had their premium Japanese debut reception in London at the Abbey Road Studios. Their showcase was exclusive only to 130 selected people, most of which were from the press. On July 16, 2011, Shinee performed in a concert at Taipei Arena in Taipei as a part of their Taiwan leg of Shinee World tour. R&B singer and fellow labelmate Zhang Liyin appeared as a special guest and sang a duet with Jonghyun. On July 22, 2011, Shinee started their Japan Debut Premium Reception Tour. They performed at a number of concerts while touring various cities of Japan including Fukuoka on July 22, Kobe on July 23, Tokyo on July 27 and 28, Sapporo on August 8 and Nagoya on August 11, 2011.
On August 8, 2011, EMI Music Japan revealed the music video for the Japanese version of "Juliette" through their official YouTube channel. The single was released in Japan on August 28, 2011. On September 2, 3 and 4, 2011, Shinee participated in the second Japan leg of SMTown Live '10 World Tour and performed in three concerts at Tokyo Dome in Tokyo. On September 10, 2011, the group also performed in a concert at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore as a part of their Singapore leg of Shinee World tour. The production cost for the concert was around $1.7 million.
On September 9, 2011, EMI Music Japan tweeted that Shinee will be releasing their third Japanese single "Lucifer" on October 12, 2011. This news has been confirmed on their official Japanese homepage. The official music video for the Japanese version of "Lucifer" was released on EMI Music Japan's official YouTube channel on September 15, 2011. It was announced on Oricon's website that Shinee was the first foreign artist in the 44 year long history of Oricon ever to have three different singles released in Japan and all three of which ranked in top three on their weekly singles sales chart. These singles were their first three Japanese singles: "Replay", "Juliette" and "Lucifer".
On October 17, 2011, it was announced by EMI Music Japan that Shinee will be releasing their first Japanese studio album, The First on November 23, 2011. However, the Japanese release date has now been delayed to December 7, 2011. The album will feature five new songs in addition to Japanese remakes of seven previously released Korean songs. The regular version of the album will also feature the theme song of the drama Stranger 6, a track called "Stranger" as a bonus.
On October 23, 2011, Shinee participated in the last concert of SMTown Live '11 World Tour alongside their fellow label mates. They performed at Madison Square Garden in New York City. On October 27, 2011, the group also performed in a concert at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya as part of the Japanese leg of their Shinee World tour. Later, the group was invited to be the opening act at sixth London’s Korean Film Festival to take place at Odeon West End Theater on November 3, 2011. They also performed in their ‘Shinee in London‘ one-hour long gala concert, the tickets for which sold out within a minute after going on sale at 1:00 pm on the October 27, 2011. This also marked the first time that a Korean artist held an independent concert in London.
The Boys participated in 2011 Winter SMTown – The Warmest Gift album with the song "Last Christmas". The compilation album by SM artistes was released on December 13, 2011. "Last Christmas" was included in "The Warmest Gift" by SM Town.
Lee Jinki "Onew" 온유


Lee Jinki (Hangul: 이진기; born December 14, 1989), better known by his stage name Onew (Hangul: 온유; Hanja: 温流), is a South Korean idol singer,host and actor. Debuting in 2008 as the leader of K-pop quintet boy group SHINee under the label of SM Entertainment, he has since branched out into musicals and MC-ing.
Onew is the leader and the lead vocalist of the K-pop group SHINee. His stage name 'Onew' denotes to his soft voice. After training for two years, he became the leader of SHINee, who debuted in 2008 with the song "Noonan Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)" ("누난 너무 예뻐 (Replay)". Since then, they have released two albums and three mini albums in South Korea that were commercial successes.
The singer contributed to singles for Lee Hyeon-ji (for "Vanilla Love Part 2") and Girls' Generation member Jessica for the song "One Year Later" in the Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) mini-album.
Onew also starred in various musicals starting in 2010, debuting in the musical Hyeongjeneun Yonggamhaetda (형제는 용감했다, "Brothers were Brave") alongside singer Lee Ji-Hoon. He then starred in the Korean production of Rock of Ages playing the lead role, Drew.
In addition to music, Onew became an MC on two programs — KBS's Yahaengsung and MBC's Show! Music Core.
Onew has also started becoming a fixed panel regular in new — SBS's Show 'Dalgona'
Recently, he has also showcased his acting skills via television having a cameo role of a clumsy doctor in the drama Dr. Champ. He appeared in the drama's final episode



Kim Jonghyun "Jonghyun" 종현


Kim Jonghyun (Hangul: 김종현), also known monomously as Jonghyun, is a South Korean idol singer, songwriter and dancer. He is most famous for being a member of the quintet contemporary R&B and pop boy band, Shinee and project ballad group SM The Ballad, both under the SM Entertainmentlabel in South Korea. He is known for his strong and powerful vocals, as Shinee's Main vocalist, the sole reason for his being part of SM The Ballad.
After training for three years at his label company SM Entertainment, Jonghyun became a member of the five member contemporary R&B and pop boy band, Shinee. The group debuted on May 25, 2008 on SBS's Inkigayo with their promotional single, "Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)" ("누난 너무 예뻐(Replay)", lit. "Older Girl, You're So Pretty (Replay)"). Since then, they have released two albums and three mini albums in South Korea that were commercial successes. Since their debut, Shinee has won numerous awards. The group has starred in various shows as guests as well as in their own reality shows like Mnet's Shinee's YunHaNam and KBS's Hello Baby. Shinee has also endorsed and promoted numerous commercial products like Smart, Korean cosmetic company Nana's B, and Reebok. The group has also recorded songs for OSTs of various films and dramas. He and his band mates also participated in tours of SM Town as well as in their own concert, Shinee World, held in Tokyo (2010) and in Seoul (2011). SM Town has been to New York's Madison Square Garden on October 23, 2011. The show was sold out. Shinee signed a contract with EMI Music Japan for their impendingJapanese debut in June 22, 2011 with a remake of their Korean debut single, "Replay".
He had written songs such as "Juliette" in Romeo, "Yok (Obsession)" and part of "Up & Down" in Lucifer.
In November 2010, it was revealed by SM Entertainment that Shinee's Jonghyun along with TRAX’s Jay, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, and rookie singer, Jino, have formed a project group, SM The Ballad, under their label. The group focuses more on ballad rather than pop and R&B themes. The group released their debut album, "Miss You", on November 29, 2010. They debuted on November 28, 2010 on SBS's Inkigayo with their lead single, "Miss You." They also promoted another single from the album, "Hot Times."
Jonghyun appeared on television shows such as Idol Maknae Rebellion as a guest star alongside his SHINee group mates Taemin, Key and Onew in several episodes.
In October 2010, Jonghyun was one of 20 idols from various South Korean groups that recorded the song, "Let's Go," for the purpose of increasing public participation in the 2010 G-20 Seoul summit. He provided vocals along with labelmates Sungmin, Seohyun and Luna.
He was also a cast member in KBS's Immortal Song 2 for two episodes with fellow labelmate Yesung.
In June 2011, Jonghyun recorded a song titled "So Goodbye" for drama series City Hunter. The song for ‘City Hunter OST Part 2' was released June 3.

Kim Ki Bum "Key" 


Key (born Kim Ki Bum Hangul: 김기범) also known as Almighty Key is a South Korean idol singer, rapper and dancer. He is most famous as being one of the members of the contemporary R&B and pop quintet boy band, SHINee, under the label of SM Entertainment.
Key debuted with SHINee in 2008 with the song "Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)" ("누난 너무 예뻐 (Replay)"). He serves as a singer, rapper and dancer in SHINee; he is therefore known as the "triple threat" and gained the title 'Almighty' Key.
Key was born on September 23, 1991, and raised in Daegu. He was a varsity water-skier in Dae Gu Yeong Shin Middle School. He was discovered at the "2005 S.M. National Tour Audition Casting". Prior to his debut, Key appeared in Super Junior's Wonder Boy music video as an extra dancer.
On November 18, 2010, Key took his college entrance exam. At that point he had already graduated from high school, and was taking the exam a year late as he had been unable to take it the previous year. He passed his university entrance examination to Myungji University in November, 2011, where he will be taking classes in 2012 as a musical major.
Key is also known for his multilingual talents. Since he spent six weeks on an exchange in America, out of his fellow band members, Key has the strongest fluency abilities in English. He also is fluent in Japanese, as SHINee prepares for their Japanese debut.
He is known to be the most sociable member with the most celebrity phone numbers. He is known to be close to the 91' Line which he had claimed to be the founder of. The group contains people from popular groups such as 2AM's JinWoon, FT Island's JaeJin and Seunghyun, BEAST's DongWoon, MBLAQ's Mir, Infinite's Woohyun, After School's Nana, Miss A's Min and Kara's Nicole.
Key featured in label-mate Xiah's solo performance of "Xiahtic" in TVXQ's concert, 2009: The 3rd Asia Tour Mirotic, in Seoul. In 2010 Key was featured in the song "치유 (Healing)" on TRAX's mini album "Trax Mini Album Volume 1". Later, it was also announced that Key would have a small part in Girls' Generation's song "Hwaseongin Virus (Boys & Girls)" (Korean: "화성인 바이러스 (Boys & Girls)") on their second studio album Oh!.
Key has also appeared on television shows such as Idol Maknae Rebellion as a guest star alongside his SHINee group mates Taemin, Jonghyun and Onew in several episodes. Together with other idol group members: Dongho from U-KISS, Shorry J from Mighty Mouth, Jinwoon from 2AM, Yunhwa from T-Max, Seunghyun from F.T. Island and in the later part, Mir from MBLAQ. Key was part of the cast of the show Raising Idol, also known as Keydol by his fans.
Key also participated as a DJ alongside labelmate Super Junior member Leeteuk to fill the other members in errand for the group's radio program Super Junior Kiss the Radio (SuKiRa).
Key featured in Girls' Generation's first live album The 1st Asia Tour: Into The New World Album in the song "Barbie Girl" with Girls' Generation's Jessica Jung also in Im Yoona's solo in Girls Generation's 1st Asia tour in Shanghai with the song If You Find A Cool Guy, Please Introduce Me.
He had performed a duet with solo artist IU for MC Mong's song "Love Letter For You (Neoyege Sseuneun Pyeonji) as a rapper.

Choi Minho "Minho" 민호


Minho (born Choi Minho; Hangul: 최민호, Hanja: 崔珉豪; born December 9, 1991), is a South Korean idol singer, rapper, dancer, actor, model and host. He is most famously known as a member of the contemporary R&B and Pop quintet boy band, SHINee, under SM Entertainment.
Minho was born on December 9, 1991 in Incheon, South Korea. He graduated from Konkuk University's affiliated high school on February 10, 2010. After taking the college admissions test the previous year, he was admitted in 2010 to Konkuk’s part-time admittance for the arts and culture film major where he is currently attending. His father, Choi Yun-Gyeom, is a well-known South Korean soccer coach. He has an older brother named Choi Minseok.
Minho is known as Flaming Charisma Minho and was cast in the 2006 S.M. Casting System. He is the main rapper of the group, and has also written rap parts for some of SHINee's songs, such as "Get it".
Before debuting with SHINee, Minho modeled for Ha Sang Baek's Seoul Collection F/W 08-09 in March.
In 2008 he was the 3rd Youth International Video Festival "the aura" Goodwill Ambassador with fellow SHINee member, Key. Minho was appointed as the ambassador of Konkuk University in 2010. On May 23, 2011, he was named Honorary Ambassador for Youth 2011. He then received a name plate at the Youth Week celebration held in the COEX auditorium.
Minho hosts MBC's Music Core, alongside fellow SHINee member, Onew. However, due to oversea schedules, they are on temporary leave. He is a permanent cast member on KBS's Let's Go Dream Team! Season 2. He is often dubbed as the "Ace" of the show, having won the challenges at numerous occasions. He was also a permanent cast member in the KBS program Oh! My School, also known as 100 Points Out of 100 .
On October 3, 2011, Minho co-hosted the Hallyu Dream Concert held at the Kyungju Citizen Stadium alongside 2PM’s Taecyeon and actress Park Shin Hye which was broadcasted on October 6, 2011 by Mnet Broadcasting Station. On October 6, 2011, Minho, alongside KARA's Nicole, helped in the torch run for the opening ceremony of the 92nd National Sports Festival held in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province which featured 17,983 athletes. 
On October 16, 2011, Minho won Let's Go Dream Team! Season 2 ACE Special episode and took a Kia Cadenza (k7) home.
On December 7,2011, it was announced that Minho will be taking on a comedic acting role in SBS‘s new sitcom,‘Salamander Guru’s Inside Story’, which will air in early 2012. Minho will be playing the role of Minhyuk, a genius hacker,alongside actors Im Won Hee and Oh Dal Soo.‘Salamander Guru’s Inside Story’ is SBS’s first sitcom in 5 years and revolves around two robbers who impersonate a guru. The sitcom will air in January of 2012.

Lee Taemin "Taemin" 태민


Lee Taemin (Hangul: 이태민), also known as Taemin (Hangul: 태민), is a South Korean idol singer, dancer, and actor. He is most famous for being one of the vocalists and the main dancer of the contemporary R&B and pop quintet boy band, SHINee, under the label of SM Entertainment.
Taemin was discovered and recruited by his current label agency, SM Entertainment, at the "2005 S.M. Open Weekend Audition Casting."
After training for three years at his label company SM Entertainment, Taemin became a member of a contemporary R&B and pop quintet boy band,Shinee. The group debuted on May 25, 2008 on SBS's Inkigayo with their promotional single, "Noona Neomu Yeppeo (Replay)" ("누난 너무 예뻐(Replay)," lit. " Older Sister, you're so pretty (Replay)." Since then, they have released two albums and three mini albums in South Korea that were commercial successes. Since their debut, Shinee has won numerous awards. The group has starred in various shows as guests as well as in their ownreality shows like Mnet's Shinee's YunHaNam and KBS's Hello Baby. Shinee has also endorsed and promoted numerous commercial products like Smart, Korean cosmetic company Nana's B, and Reebok. The group has also recorded songs for OSTs of various films and dramas. Shinee signed a contract with EMI Music Japan for their Japanese debut in 2011.
Taemin debuted as an actor as Lee Junsu in the sitcom Taehee-Hyegyo-Jihyun! (Korean: "태희혜교지현이!").
He later played Kim Sung Chae on Moonlight 90 with band member, Key.
Taemin has appeared on television shows such as Idol Maknae Rebellion as a guest star alongside his SHINee group mates Key, Jonghyun, and Onew in several episodes. He appeared together with other idol group members, including Dongho from U-KISS, Shorry J from Mighty Mouth, Jinwoon from 2AM, Yunhwa from T-Max, Seunghyun from F.T. Island, and Mir from MBLAQ.
In December 2011, Taemin took part as voice actor for the Korean animated movie called 'Koala Kid - The Outcast' as the main character, Johnny, a white koala turned hero, along with fellow labelmate,Girl's Generation's Sunny.
